Oh wow, who doesn't want a Nick as the man in their life. I really liked his combined personality of pragmatism, protectiveness, and devotion/worship for Daisy.I would say the synopsis is a little misleading. It implied more of a thriller aspect and really this novella was a snapshot of Daisy and Nick's life as they try to adapt to leading normal lives. Agree with the other reviewers that you need to read "Last Hit" in order to understand this novella.
I really appreciate how the authors avoided the formulaic alpha hero-Russian hitman and the inexperienced gal. They are both fish-out-of-water types when it comes to relating to every day society and that is what makes the story interesting plus their utter understanding and devotion to each other. I really, really liked how between the two of them there was this incredible, understanding connection on how to deal with each other's idiosyncrasies.
The reason why I don't give this 5 stars is that I think the authors went a little overboard about Daisy's desperation for a friend. I realize in having Daisy befriend Christine it was also to show Daisy's understanding nature and big heart BUT sorry, Christine isn't worthy. Spoilers to follow, so stop reading if you don't want to read them..........................
I can understand Christine being under the thrall of clearly a junky, abusing boyfriend who takes her money and beats her up. Christine is literally starving as the money she earns from the two jobs is going towards her boyfriends lifestyle. Abusive relationships like that I would not judge but hope someone would offer help as Daisy does. What I am not understanding about is how much Christine uses Daisy - constantly copying her answers - what is the point of her choosing to be in college if she's not willing to study? I guess someone could say she doesn't have time because she's working two jobs, but again, college is a choice, so why bother paying for it and taking the time to attend classes if you're only constantly going to cheat? The worst though about Christine was when Daisy tells her that her boyfriend tried to rape her, Christine's only thought was "my boyfriend isn't here?" No thought, apology, or care did she send Daisy's way about the attempted rape. I just thought Daisy should have thrown her hands up on Christine even at the beginning when the cheating began and said "you're toxic and I don't need a friend this badly to have to buy them with my homework."
I also thought the authors went a little overboard with making Daisy so socially awkward that she couldn't make friends easily - I didn't like her looking so pathetic although it did provide scenes where it showed Nick trying to make friends for her as he just wants her happiness.
Anyway, to end on a positive note, Nick and Daisy are one of the best couples I have ever read. Despite the use of the ever popular Russian hitman theme, this story contains original, uniques characters and a powerful romance. I can't wait for more in this series!!!

Last Hit Reloaded Novella A Hitman Novel Book 1 edition by Jessica Clare Jen Frederick Romance eBooks Reviews
Clare and Frederick are the ultimate writing dream team. I can't get enough of this series! This novella was just enough to keep me going until Last Kiss. I have always been intrigued by Vasily and when Naomi was introduced in Daniel's story, I knew she was going to be a big deal so I can hardly wait.
Nick and Daisy will always be my favorites but the others are right up there with them.
Last Hit Reloaded reinforced the relationship that developed between Nick and Daisy. They are indestructible!
It had some mystery, excitement and the sexy scenes these two authors have mastered. A perfect transition for the next installment.
5 stars!
I enjoyed revisiting Daisy and Nick. Nick is just as dramatic and just as enamored with Daisy as ever. Daisy continues to try to break out of her shell but struggles to make friends. When she finally managed to make a new connection, Nick believes Daisy's new friend is a user and may endanger Daisy. He takes it upon himself to be even more vigilant than usual. Daisy is determined to help her friend and overlooks many faults and warning signs. In the meantime, Nick notices another possible threat, but is the newcomer friend or foe? With problems on several fronts, Daisy and Nick must stick closer together than ever. I really enjoyed it, but did find myself skimming over the sex scenes after a while because they were just so prevalent, and I wanted to get to the plot.
So I loved Last Hit and was so excited to read this book. I liked it. I didn't love it. I'm not sure why. Maybe it was weird to see the former hitman and his love in a more domestic situation? I think it had more to do with Daisy's character being so cliche and naive. I really liked her in the first book. Her she bordered on annoying. Maybe I expected more of an edge to her after everything she has been through.
This novella is part of the Hitman series. This story is easy to follow even if you haven't read any of the other books series. It is about Nick (Nikolai) and Daisy. Never have I wanted to hug two characters more than I did with these two. They are two people trying to adapt and blend into a society and culture that is foreign to them. While Nick is more than happy with their world consisting of just the two of them, Daisy would like more. Like any young woman going to college she wanted to fit in and have friends. Her huge heart and desperate need for friends makes her easy prey. Thank God she has Nick. Although he does not understand her want of others in their lives, he tries his best to support her. Their give and take and reliance on each other to feel their way through this strange world is what makes this a beautiful story. It is a quick read that is touching and leaves you with a good feeling in the end. I can't wait to see what happens next.
I love Nick and Daisy.
Two socially awkward people who have found comfort, companionship and most importantly, love.
Growing up sheltered, Daisy never had the experience of learning how to speak to people or to make friends. Nicks one attempt to throw a party for her to meet people, is an utter disaster. But an opportunity arises whe Daisy takes a chance and introduces herself to a shy withdrawn classmate. She sees in Christine, the same broken spirit she carried when she left her father. Daisy wants to not only befriend her, but help her. Nick on the other hand, knows there is only trouble surrounding someone like Christine. Trouble that could put his Daisy in harms way.
i only had one small problem with the story, the cop. I just had a problem with his actions at the end of the story. I can see why it was written that way, like Daisy says, a cop like that is what Nick needs, a friend of sorts of his own.
It was a good, quick story, well written. If you haven't read Nick and Daisy's book Last Hit I highly recommend it.
